Modeca store Abigail’s Collection raised £4k for charity
“Wear Your Wedding Dress Again Charity Party” is a smasher.
England based Modeca bridal shop Abigail’s Collection & The Groom’s Room in Colchester have raised £4000 at this year’s “Wear Your Wedding Dress Again Charity Party” which took place at Prested Hall in Feering, Colchester. The event was in aid of Help for Heroes – a British charity launched to help provide better facilities for British servicemen and women who have been wounded or injured in the line of duty. All funds of the event which is the second of its kind will be directed to Chavasse VC House in Colchester, one of four Help For Heroes Recovery Centres.
Abigail Neill, founder of Abigail’s Collection, explains: “It’s a chance for us to give something back; to our brides, to our community and most importantly to the Military Personnel who need help and support after being wounded in service. Our brides just LOVE the chance to wear their dresses again and in 2013 having decided that I wanted to do some charity work for Help For Heroes I realised I should combine the two and basically we decided that a wedding dress themed charity party was what was needed, the first was brilliant but this was absolutely awesome, it surpassed our expectations and we are so thrilled to have raised four thousand pounds for the recovery centre Chavasse VC House.”
The Recovery Centres are there to inspire, enable and support wounded, injured or sick military service men and women and their families. Inspired by the Help Four Hero’s promotional You Tube Video Abigail Neill and her award winning bridal and menswear Team felt this was a charity that they wanted to raise money for. Abigail Neill says: “These people have risked their lives and have suffered life changing injuries whilst bravely serving our country – it’s our way of saying helping them and saying thank you.”
The idea has certainly paid off; with over 100 Brides in attendance, it seems everyone enjoyed a thoroughly excellent evening and is unanimously proud of being able to jointly donate £4000 to Help For Heroes. Abigail Neill states: “Everyone looked amazing and the brides that came along really wanted to party! The atmosphere was superb, it was such an excellent charity effort and we are already thinking about a 2017 event.”
